The Victorian operatic duo Gilbert and Sullivan wrote 14 operas, such as The Mikado, H.M.S. Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance, and Lolanthe, and the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival was founded in 1994 to celebrate their fantastic works. Sitting somewhere between an opera and a musical, the performances are referred to as operettas or ‘light operas’. On this fantastic break including your ticket to the show, we’ll take in the charming towns and quaint villages of the Peak District, including Eyam, Castleton, Bakewell and Matlock Bath.
