Spain

Spain Highlights

The quaint town of Malgrat de Mar perfectly illustrates the country’s culture – with its cobbled streets, charming shops, and local markets, its quintessentially Spanish features make it the perfect destination for a fantastic break. The lovely Central Beach with its gorgeous, clear-blue waters is one of Spain’s many blue flag-awarded beaches. The country is well-known for its coastline, like the Costa Brava, scaling the shores from near Barcelona to the border with France, and is renowned for its charming villages, rocky peaks and gorgeous bays. If you wish to explore the Spanish cities, there is the capital of Spain’s Catalonia region, Barcelona. In the heart of the city lies the iconic Gothic Quarter, Barri Gotic, mixing old-Europe streets with lively modern attractions. This is also the perfect place to shop, and, with the large boulevard Las Ramblas, you’ll never be bored! The grandeur of Spain should not be underestimated – like the Aqueduct of Segovia, the city’s best and most important architectural landmark, dating right back to the rule of the Roman Empire. This is a country united by its cultural traditions, which covers all things: food, decorations, parades, concerts, and theatre – and, as a visitor, we guarantee you’ll be left wanting more! Food and Drink

Paella

Considered the national dish of Spain, paella’s birthplace is the city of Valencia. Combining simple ingredients like chicken, rice, seafood and vegetables with saffron, authentic paella is a fabulous comfort food with fantastic flavours.

Pollo Al Ajillo

Pollo Al Ajillo is a classic and beautiful Spanish garlic chicken recipe with just a few main ingredients – lots of garlic, bay leaves, and wine. Translating to garlic chicken, this dish may sound simple, but the flavours are not.

Sangria

The alcoholic beverage Sangria, coming exclusively from Spain and Portugal, is a classic punch primarily made from red wine and an array of different fruits. Usually soda and another alcohol, like brandy or rum, is added to the mix, along with sugar and spices.

Spanish Flan

Authentic Spanish flan is a baked custard dessert combining egg, milk or sweet condensed milk, and vanilla, topped with a stunningly sweet caramel sauce. This very popular pudding is simple but rich, and is a must-try when visiting Spain.
