Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.
Continue to Niederau in the Wildschonau Valley in the Austrian Tyrol, where we stay for six nights.
We begin the day with a visit to the charming Tyrolean market town of St. Johann. Known for its beautiful, Baroque twin-spire church, pretty town square and the local Huber Brau beer, you will have free time here before we continue to the chic resort town of Kitzbühel.
Kitzbühel is set against a spectacular backdrop of stunning Alpine scenery and combines a modern sophistication with a fairy tale atmosphere. The multitude of bars, pavement cafés and shops blend harmoniously with cobbled streets and picturesque painted houses.
You will have free time to explore or perhaps opt to take a cable car ride up the mighty Hahnenkamm Mountain for some spectacular views of the region (extra cost, approximately €28 payable locally).
This morning our included excursion takes us along the scenic Alpenstrasse to the shore of the lovely Lake Achensee, the largest and deepest lake in the Austrian Tyrol. Surrounded by pine-clad slopes, you will have time at leisure to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. This afternoon we continue down the Ziller Valley to Mayrhofen where we have some free time to look around this picturesque town.
Free day at leisure in resort or join our optional excursion to Innsbruck, the capital of the Tyrol.
There will be free time for you to discover the old quarter and its charming arcaded streets, stroll along Maria Theresien Strasse with its bustling shops, or climb the Tower of the City for magnificent views of the city.
Alternatively, why not combine your visit to Innsbruck with a trip on board the Nordkettenbahn (at additional cost)? You will be transported high into the mountain terrain up to the Hungerburg mountain station where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city. We then take the cable car further up the mountain to an altitude of 1905 metres above sea level, enjoying fantastic views of the Middle Inn Valley, the Stubai and Zillertal Valley Alps and the Wipptal Valley over the Italian border.
If you wish to venture even higher, you can join the cable car to the Hafelekar, with the highest viewpoint at 2256 metres.
The optional excursions will be available to book during your tour.
Prices are per person and are subject to change. Payment will be in Euros (cash payments only).
Why not take a cable car ride up the Schmittenhoehe Mountain (payable locally) for incredible views of the surrounding scenery or enjoy a lake cruise (payable locally)?
After a morning at leisure, enjoy free time to explore or join our optional excursion through the beautiful Alpine countryside of the Tyrol, to the mountain village of Alpbach. Voted ‘Austria’s most beautiful village’, Alpbach is picturesquely situated on a sunny plateau 1000 metres above sea level and creates a picture-postcard image with geraniums and other flowers adoring the many window boxes.
From Alpbach, we descend to the Inn Valley to the smallest town in Austria, Rattenberg, the heart of glass making for over 600 years. We take you to the oldest glassmakers' in the town where you are shown the traditional method of glass blowing, carving and painting.
