The Old Town houses, dating from the 15th to 17th centuries, provide a fantastic and unique backdrop for the distinctive Berne Christmas markets. Münster square is devoted mainly to arts and crafts. The Christmas markets attract visitors with a sky of shining Christmas stars, the scents of gingerbread, spices, punch and mulled wine. During Advent, Franziskanerplatz is once again transformed into a small town of colorful wooden houses. In the heart of the small old town, but away from the hectic and noisy shopping mile, the Christmas market spreads a unique, magical atmosphere.
